So, now that I have a cool set of vintage dinnerware to display of course I need to find a suitable vintage hutch for said display. Some ideas:

SD MCM - Craig Ellwood
I believe this to be the only Craig Ellwood home in San Diego [finally figured out where it is and going to snoop this weekend]. Here is a great article on the history and restoration of the house by the current owner Keith York who has an amazing blog on mid century modern in San Diego.
Bobertz residence now and upon completion in 1955
Interior shot now and then:
Wall art
I picked up this cool vintage-y looking piece of wall art from a local artist. It's made of old square head nails and brass...
When I went to pick up the piece, I was invited into the artist's home. His wife is an artist as well [amazing free-form ceramic sculptures]. Anyway, entering their home was like walking into a mid-century museum. Original Bertoia and Eames furniture, Jere wall sculptures, a Miro original painting, on and on... truly a treat.

Hello scruffy minx...
Cheap Craigslist find. Needs a fair amount of TLC [ok, a lot] but couldn't say no... She will need a good redo [a la chairfag]. Since the base is pretty shot, I'm going to attempt to modify it to the same height as the harder to find lounge base [one is kicking it in the background]. All dimensions appear to be the same so may work out...

Scale modern!
So, while I was going thru a bunch of stuff I had in storage I came across something I had the good sense to save when I was a kid - this mid century modern house that was part of my HO scale train town... And would you believe it is still in production [2nd pic]?
Reminds me of this custom home ad:

New addition...
Well, here she is - my new aquisition: the fabulously fake Selig Lounge/Eames 670 knock-off. Of course an original is disgustingly out of reach [for me anyway] and I was inches away from buying another gorgeous knock-off at Hold It in San Diego [$1500-ish] over the weekend until I came to my senses. I did some research on this faker and although the new reproduction was sweet, this one is more up my alley. My goal is to take her down this road...
But for now, I will enjoy her [and her matching foot rest] as is...

670 Selig knock-off
So, a friend is offering this decent knock-off [not this one, but identical and in excellent condition] to me at a fair price...only to fund HIS chair addiction. I think I may take him up on it.

And I need another chair why?
Who cares, that's why. Checked out this little minx after work. We met on craigslist...I love her. Needs a little TLC but so do I. She's mine tomorrow!
