Another piece of Blue Heaven on the way...

Since aquiring the Blue Heaven china, I have added a few pieces - just won this teapot on ebay. It will be a nice addition to the collection.

More vintage flatware

When I've had a shit day at work, I like to wind down at the SA on the way home - great therapy. I love digging thru the flatware bins for vintage. Hands are totally gross after but today got all these [a few barware pieces too] for a buck. Filling up the flatware drawer in the new hutch.

I only wish my office was this swank...

Harley Earl's GM office [still in use!]

Danish [or is it Dansk?] salad servers

Found these at Klassik [yelp link - their site is in limbo] in San Diego this weekend:

Enameled metal plate

I found this at Atomic Bazaar in San Diego today and am now hooked on enamel ware. Damn you Atomic Bazaar! On the hunt for more...

Like these:

Patio

Got the urge to add some plants to my patio - kind of uninteresting but gave me an excuse to snap a pic of my Fibrella lounge chair that I found at the dump a few years back:

Rubber bowls?

I'd seen something like these at the hardware store but can't remember what they're purpose is. I loved the taupe color and they look cool - and a very reasonable .20 cents each:

cb2 mobile

Bought this mobile from cb2 a while back - thought it looked cool and was only $20 but wasn't crazy about the colors. So I thought I would just paint it - sounds easy enough but it was a bitch to take apart and spray [and respray cuz I f'd it up]. I should have just taped it then sprayed - whatever. It looks good from afar. Kept the grey and added black and tan to tone it down:

This is what it looked like:

Keller hutch

I have been looking for sometime for a mid-century hutch to display my Mom's Blue Heaven china. Found this one at nest. Amazing condition...

Palm Springs weekend

Had a great time in Palm Springs this past weekend at the Desert Star Hotel [a friend owns Bungalow 5]. Was able to get my modern fix on.

Clean again...

The old ModPod got a good scrubbing inside and out. And much to my surprise not only did all of the ugly green repaint power-wash off, but the original graphics were intact underneath. And in great shape!

Mod Pod

I have an Aristocrat Lo-Liner travel trailer that I have been working on as time allows. This coming weekend has been dedicated to this little gem. It's been a few years since I've been able to take her out and it is time. So, she's going to get a good scrubbing inside and a much needed power washing outside. Hopefully a trip out to the desert before it gets to crazy hot. Fingers crossed...

At last...

Have been looking for a Bramin lounge chair for some time. Just picked up this Selig today from Atomic Bazaar [located in San Diego] - it is in amazing condition and very similar to the Bramin.

SD MCM - Craig Ellwood

I believe this to be the only Craig Ellwood home in San Diego [finally figured out where it is and going to snoop this weekend]. Here is a great article on the history and restoration of the house by the current owner Keith York who has an amazing blog on mid century modern in San Diego.

Wall art

I picked up this cool vintage-y looking piece of wall art from a local artist. It's made of old square head nails and brass...

It somewhat reminds of Curtis Jere:

When I went to pick up the piece, I was invited into the artist's home. His wife is an artist as well [amazing free-form ceramic sculptures]. Anyway, entering their home was like walking into a mid-century museum. Original Bertoia and Eames furniture, Jere wall sculptures, a Miro original painting, on and on... truly a treat.

Hello scruffy minx...

Cheap Craigslist find. Needs a fair amount of TLC [ok, a lot] but couldn't say no... She will need a good redo [a la chairfag]. Since the base is pretty shot, I'm going to attempt to modify it to the same height as the harder to find lounge base [one is kicking it in the background]. All dimensions appear to be the same so may work out...

Eames cat

Not sure what this is all about but loved the pic...
